Today, we're taking another short break from our Women of the Bible Series to address making heroes out of mere humans. This includes: superhero-ing people, looking at certain professions as heroic, and having personal heroes beyond what's spiritually healthy for us. Of course there's nothing wrong with admiring people we love and look up to. Mentors are good and Biblical. However, when we think mere humans are perfect or see the flaws in people we hero-worship, we certainly run into trouble. And sometimes we don't see the flaws, including racism, and that leads to poisonous results as well.

In this episode, we dig into the 6 references to Priscilla in the New Testament. And yes, I'll mention Aquila a lot too because their names are always together in Scripture. I call them the Awesome Power Couple for Christ. They live with Paul, make tents with Paul, host a church in their home, teach Apollos, and even risk their lives for Paul. They're a great picture of a couple living on mission for the Gospel. So let's dig more into their story.

Today, we're looking into the second part of Mary Magdalene's story: when she witnesses and encounters the resurrected Christ. As the first witness to Jesus' resurrection, she was given an important task to bear that witness to His male disciples. Today we'll look into all 4 Gospel accounts and learn more about Mary, and more importantly, learn more about Jesus.

You've probably heard of Mary Magdalene before. There's all kinds of stories about her out there. So let's see what's actually true- what the Bible says about her. Through over a dozen mentions of her in all 4 gospels, it's clear that she's a committed disciple of Jesus who trusted her Savior and followed Him for the rest of her life once He healed her. Today, we'll look into her story from the first mention of her until right before the resurrection. In episode 24, we will read about her interactions with Jesus after He was crucified.

This week we're back to our women of the Bible series! And we're talking about two of the most famous women in the Bible: Euodia and Syntyche. Just kidding- I'd never even heard of them before God drew them to my attention a few weeks ago. Although there are only a few verses on them, we have much to learn about women, the Gospel, and how God works from their super short story.
